Others are constructed and turned to any shape and size imaginable from segmented pieces. Some bowls are further enhanced with an open segmented or closed segmented rim.

Mountain Pine Beetle Wood
The Mountain Pine Beetle, Dendroctonus Ponderosae Hopkins, is a member of the group of insects known as bark beetles. They lay eggs under the bark of pine trees, and when the larvae feed on the inner bark of the tree they cut off the supply of water and nutrients. The beetles introduce a blue stain fungus that holds back the tree's natural defenses against the attack by killing living cells in the inner bark and sapwood. The larvae and fungus combination girdles (kills) most attacked trees. The fungus also discolors the sapwood of the trees into various shades of blue/gray and devalues the wood. The tree wood is commercially marketed as "denim pine" because of its characteristic denim color.These objects highlight nature's artistic skill.
