“My Business is Turning A’round”

Wood Side Out, is a home based wood turning business by artisan Errol Redman, using the British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley fruit, nut, hard woods and Mountain Pine beetle woods to create beautiful handcrafted objects. These items, functional and artistic may be used and displayed at home or in the office.
All the wood used is salvaged from trees already cut that were destined for the landfill or firewood use. No trees are cut for the sole purpose of creating the objects. Wood Side Out is the Okanagan’s largest selection of fruit, nut, beetle pine and hard wood turnings.
Errol has developed techniques for turning wood "inside out", to display and high lite the magnificent grains and colors within. All Wood Side Out products are of fine craftsmanship and quality woods, however not all woods are free from character enhancing features. Features such as knots, dehydration cracking, natural discoloration and bark intrusions may all contribute to an objects special looks. No wood is discarded because of these characteristics.
Errol can custom turn trees salvaged from your back yard into bowls or other objects of your choice. Often trees, wood or burls have some sentimental connection to the property, yard or family. Why not have it turned into some heritage items?
Errol has the ability to create wood replicas of turnings used in historic restoration projects. Need to replace a chair leg, finial or rung? Often these wood turnings are no longer available and the only way to restore them is to have a new one turned. Errol easily accomplishes this on his lathe.
Errol is a charter member of the Okanagan Valley Wood Turners Guild where he may be observed demonstrating wood turning techniques to novice wood turners.
